American Mahjong · Orlando area

Playing mahjong should challenge your mind. Learning to play it shouldn't.

Small-group lessons for people who have never held a tile, guided play for when you have, and parties for everyone else. You play a real game on your first day.

Know when the next class opens

Tell me you’re interested and I’ll send a note when new dates go up. That’s all — no newsletter, nothing weekly, and you can tell me to stop any time.

How This Works

Learn it, get comfortable playing it, then gather your own people around a table.

01

Start Here

LEARN

101, 102, 103, and even a 104 in small groups, taught in order so nothing lands before you’re ready for it. Or gather four friends and I’ll come to you.

02

Keep Going

PLAY

Knowing the rules and being comfortable at a table are two different things, and the second one takes practice. Guided play with me in the room for the questions, and social play for when you just want a game.

03

Gather your People

HOST A PARTY

Showers, birthdays, girls’ nights, and afternoons that are mostly about the tea. These are parties, not lessons — everyone has tiles in their hands inside twenty minutes and nobody is being tested. I bring everything.

Learn. Play. Host

The goal is never for you to take a class.

It’s for you to end up with a game of your own. Your table, your people, your house, a standing afternoon everyone looks forward to. The learning is just the part that gets you there.

Hello, I'm Michelle

Why I Teach

I teach because I remember how it felt to be the one at the table who didn’t know what was happening — and because after twenty-five years in classrooms and libraries, I know that feeling is almost always a design problem, not a you problem.

Work with Me

Gather your friends. I’ll bring everything else.

The hardest part of learning mahjong isn’t the game — it’s being the only one in the room who doesn’t know anything. So don’t be. Get three friends together, pick an evening, and I’ll come to you with tiles, racks, mats and a card built for beginners. You’ll be playing a real game at your own table before the night is out, with the people you’ll go on playing with.
